There has been a lot to see and discover again at this year’s Flower Trials. 62 horticultural companies presented their novelties and innovations for pot and bedding plants. New varieties, attractive developed concepts or ideas for presentation – in three regions (Aalsmeer, Westland and Rheinland Westfalen) the nurseries opened their doors. We have been there for you and give you a short impression of some highlights.

A true eye-catcher was Begonia „MacaRouge“ from Beekenkamp which could win the popular Fleuroselect Award. The jury says „MacaRouge“ wins over „intensive colours, striking blossoms and a fresh overall image“.

Besides that, there was much more to see at Beekenkamp: not only innovative new varieties but also creative marketing concepts and ideas about product placement in the market. Whether on CC-trolley or in the shelf – noticeable signage and reasonable positioning give special attention to the plants and let sales increase.

The new Begonia „Viking“ was presented at Sakata. „Viking“ is a very strong growing and easy-care plant. Especially „Red on Chocolate“ is an eye-catcher because the dark leafs give a strong contrast to the shining red blossoms. This new „Viking“ series is conceptionally rounded up by labels, potcovers and more POS-material such as banners and CC-signs.

Volmary also presented interesting concepts. Urban Gardening, food sources for bees and butterflies or vegetables for snacking at the „Candy Bar“ - just to name a few presented topics. Volmary delivers not only suitable plants to these topics but also promotional sales material.

Kientzler presented their wide range of plant assortment in the picturesque ambience of Schloss Walbeck. Besides new varieties there were impressive planting combinations in pots and baskets. A wide range of herbs from the „KräuterLust“ assortment spread a nice fragrance and invited the visitors to try the tasty selfmade herb butter. Furthermore, Kientzler showed their „good for us“ concept – a modern logo which identifies those varieties that deliver a food source for bees, butterflies etc. This label made of cardboard comes with a Bambus stick, so the presentation is sustainable and free of plastics.

Sustainability was one of the main topics for discussion during Flower Trials. Do you have questions regarding your labels and developing eco-friendly alternatives? Feel free to contact us!
